(Boonton, NJ) - Today, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie announced his full support and endorsement of State Senator Tony Bucco (R-Boonton) in his campaign for re-election in the 25th District Republican Primary. Bucco, who has served in the Senate since 1998, is the Republican Budget Officer and authored last year’s state budget which Governor Christie signed into law, cutting spending 9% and closing an $11 billion budget deficit without raising taxes. Governor Christie is a resident of the 25th District and will be voting in the June 7th Primary Election.

“I endorse Tony Bucco for State Senate, and I will be voting for him on June 7th. Tony Bucco is my State Senator, and like many Republicans living in Morris County, I know that he deservedly has a great reputation as someone who always puts constituents first, and fights to bring a more conservative, smaller government approach to Trenton. I need him by my side as we continue to cut spending and tackle the special interests who oppose the reforms we so desperately need,” said Governor Christie. “As the President of a small business, he’s also created jobs and knows what it means to balance a budget and demand accountability. Tony has cut spending, cut taxes, helped create a 2% property tax cap and voted for pension and benefit reforms. Without a doubt, Senator Tony Bucco has my support and my vote on June 7th.”

Tony Bucco has long been a leading conservative voice in Trenton. The author of last year’s state budget in the Senate, Bucco voted for the 2% property tax cap to stop skyrocketing property tax increases, voted against over 100 McGreevey and Corzine tax and fee increases, and voted for measures that finally tackle runaway pension and health benefit costs for public employees to bring them more in line with the private sector.

Bucco has received a long line of Republican endorsements, including Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen, Morris County Freeholders Ann Grossi and Tom Mastrangelo, Sheriff Ed Rochford, Clerk Joan Bramhall, Surrogate John Pecoraro, Republican State Committeewoman Christina Ramirez, the Somerset County Republican Organization, and dozens of local Republican elected officials.

PENPAC endorses Sen. Bucco

Private Enterprise Political Action Committee (PENPAC), an affiliate of Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey, announced today that it is endorsing state Sen. Anthony Bucco Sr. in his bid for the Republican nomination to win re-election in the 25^th District.

Bucco, a former Boonton mayor and Morris County freeholder, is seeking his fifth term in the state Senate. PENPAC Chairman Richard Goldberg said “the business community knows it can rely on Sen. Bucco as a staunch advocate. He has worked diligently to articulate policies that will improve our state’s economic climate and create jobs. His continued leadership in the New Jersey Senate will ensure that the hard working people of New Jersey have a voice that represents their desire to have a state that is more affordable now, and for future generations.”

Goldberg said PENPAC, which supports pro-business candidates, is making a financial contribution to Bucco’s primary campaign. The veteran lawmaker faces a challenge in the June 7 Republican primary.

Since 1998 when Bucco began his career in the Senate, he served on the Joint Budget Oversight and Budget and Appropriations committees in the Senate. A Republican budget officer, Bucco has been committed to reducing state spending.

The senator is also president of Baker Titan Adhesives, a manufacturing company located in Paterson. “With his background, he understands the business community’s concerns. We need his voice in the Senate,” Goldberg said.

Elected to the state Senate in 1997, Tony Bucco is a member of the Senate Republican leadership team in Trenton and currently serves as its Budget Officer. He previously served in the State Assembly, on the Morris County Board of Freeholders, and was Mayor of Boonton in the late 1980s.

Assemblyman Carroll has served in the General Assembly since 1996, and was formerly a member of Republican leadership between 2002 and 2005. A member of both the Judiciary and the Housing and Local Government Committees, he is an attorney in private practice. He lives in Morris Township with his wife and six children.

Anthony Bucco was elected in November 2009 to his first term in the state Assembly after having spent nearly 30 years participating in state and local community service organizations. The newest member of the Assembly Budget Committee, Anthony is a municipal attorney with over 22 years of experience dealing with local government issues. He lives in Boonton Township with his wife Amy, and together they have six children.

New Jersey’s 25^th District now encompasses the following towns in Morris County and parts of Somerset County: Borough of Bernardsville, Town of Boonton, Boonton Township, Borough of Chester, Chester Township, Denville Township, Town of Dover, Mendham Borough, Mendham Township, Mine Hill Township, Morris Township, Town of Morristown, Borough of Mount Arlington, Borough of Mountain Lakes, Borough of Netcong, Randolph Township, Borough of Rockaway, Roxbury Township, Borough of Victory Gardens, Washington Township, and Borough of Wharton. The Republican Primary Election is currently slated for June 7, 2011.
